Devlog 9

Our second playtest was held during this week. Based on the feedback we received from our last playtest, we made certain changes to reflect for our new build. Each member sat down with their participants and watched them play through what we had. Generally speaking, we received a lot of positive feedback commenting on the look of our game, We wanted to feature an 80's art style with some modernized icons so it was a relief to hear that most of our testers felt that what we wanted to show was very clear. Interactivity also saw an improvement from our last playtest. we got a few praises for the responsiveness of our UI elements; notably the windows popping up when clicking on the chat bubble icons. However, there was an outlier who felt that the interactivity hindered their overall experience. They expressed that they were confused throughout the game and were unsure what to do in the game space. They mentioned that since the icons do not highlight when their mouse hovers over them like a real computer would, they were unsure if the game was even running. All in all, they rated their experience as a 2/10. Despite that being the only opinion in a collection of 7 surveys received, this feedback is still valuable. My group and I will have to meet together and decide what worked overall amongst the participants and what didn't. From there, we can address what is absolutely necessary versus all of the grievances of one. From an artist's perspective, I feel that a possible solution to improving interactivity could be to create a different version of current icons using different colors. By simply hovering over an icon, the asset would swap with the second version to create that highlighted effect. I will have to discuss this with my team during our next meeting but for now, I will consider our second playtest a success.
