Devlog 3
This week was entirely focused on developing our idea through the use of beat maps, brainstorming and general documentation. Before any form of ideation, our group only had a general idea of what we wanted to accomplish but had no idea of how we were going to get there. thankfully we were able to get together and started forming a plan using our classrooms whiteboard. We finalized our projects goal, assign roles and discuss counter-measures for project hinderances and we were even able to clear up certain misunderstandings on the idea at hand. All in all, the meeting was an incredibly fruitful one.
Brainstorm meetings and documentation is such an important component to game making that I cannot stress enough. Unfortunately, I have had experiences where our group did not have a very in depth brainstorm session. As a result of that, most of our group members were always at a loss of what to do for the project or were just plain unmotivated to do any work. Obviously, our project failed because of the lack of initiative and direction. Despite this, I was able to learn a lot from our failure in the sense of what not to next time. From that experience, I can ensure that this project succeeds and from what my current team has been able to accomplish, I can confidently say that I look forward to what we create.
